The Golden State Warriors are in the Western Conference Finals for the fifth straight year and will face either the Portland Trail Blazers or Denver Nuggets, who meet in Game 7 of their semifinal matchup Sunday in Denver. The Blazers stayed alive with a 119-108 win at home in an intense Game 6 on Thursday, but they were defeated by 26 points in their last visit to Denver.

Damian Lillard scored 17 of his 32 points in the third quarter in Thursday’s win for Portland, and the Blazers’ leader says his team will be locked in for the do-or-die finale. “Don’t overthink, don’t make it some big, crazy deal or nothing like that,” Lillard told reporters of Game 7. “We’re going to play a basketball game. And it’s a big game, and we’ve won on their floor before, and we know what type of mentality we had when we did that.” The Nuggets were an NBA-best 34-7 at home during the regular season and are 5-2 at the Pepsi Center in the postseason. Star center Nikola Jokic had 29 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists in the Game 6 loss, falling just shy of his fifth triple-double of a dominant playoff run.

Tony’s Pick TEAM
ABOUT THE TRAIL BLAZERS: C.J. McCollum scored 30 points in the Game 6 win while backup Rodney Hood erupted for 25 on 8-of-12 shooting, and the latter is overjoyed with the opportunity in front of him. “It’s some of the most fun basketball you’ll play,” Hood told reporters of Game 7. “There’s nothing like going into somebody’s building in Game 7 and winning. That’s a memory that will last a very long time. It’s going to be fun, it’s going to be intense.” Hood is shooting 60.4 percent from the field in the series, making 11 of his 19 3-point tries.

ABOUT THE NUGGETS: Jokic has been the constant for Denver in his first postseason and is averaging 26.8 points, 14 rebounds, 8.7 assists and 1.2 steals in the series. “For Nikola Jokic to be doing what he’s doing in his playoff debut, I’ve been around great players. I’ve never seen anything like it in the first go ’round,” coach Michael Malone told reporters. Guard Jamal Murray is chipping in 24.7 points during the series while forward Paul Millsap is at 18.7 points and nine rebounds.

1. No suspensions were handed out from a Game 6 scuffle in the fourth quarter.

2. Blazers C Enes Kanter is averaging six points on 26.1 percent shooting over the last three games after posting a 19.7 averaging on 60 percent through the first three contests in the series.

3. Lillard buried 6-of-13 3-pointers in Game 6 after hitting 11-of-44 through the first five games.
