Circa Survivor down to 660 entries after Texans and Jets upsets
NFL Week 7 cut the Circa Survivor field from 1,277 to 660 entries, out of 25,017 at the start. The Texans, 10.5-point home favorites, lost 27-21 in overtime to the Giants, and the Jets lost 28-25 to the Dolphins.
What happened
NFL Week 7 knocked out 617 of the 1,277 entries still alive in Circa Survivor, 48.3% of them, leaving 660 of the 25,017 that paid the $1,000 entry at the start of the season, according to VegasInsider’s tracker. That is 2.6% of the original field.
Houston did the most damage. The Texans were picked by 303 entries and lost 27-21 in overtime to the Giants as 10.5-point home favorites; former Texan Devin Singletary scored the winning touchdown on the Giants’ second snap of overtime, after a 42-yard run by Cam Skattebo. The Jets’ 28-25 loss to the Dolphins removed 256 entries and the Panthers’ loss another 54. One entry each went out with the 49ers and the Titans, and two missed the pick deadline.
The details
The prize pool is $25.017 million, so each surviving entry is worth about $37,904 on paper.
The $100,000-entry Circa Grandissimo, which started with 77 entries for a $7.7 million prize, had six left going into Week 7. Three took the Texans and were eliminated; two advanced with the Vikings and one with the Broncos, lifting the paper value of each remaining entry from $1.283 million to $2.566 million.
What it means
A survivor pool asks you to pick one winner a week without using a team twice, so even a 10.5-point favorite is far from safe. Our guide to how betting odds work shows how to turn a moneyline into a win probability, and our odds comparison shows current NFL prices at licensed sportsbooks.
