The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission has fined FanDuel $95,000 for accepting wagers on markets the state had not approved: games in an unsanctioned basketball league and soccer props on officiating.
US states approve sports betting markets one by one, and operators must not offer anything outside the approved list. Bets on unapproved markets account for many of the US fines in our reviews’ regulatory records.
The penalty follows a $125,000 fine from the same regulator in July 2025 for several violations, including bets on markets Iowa had not approved. Massachusetts has also fined FanDuel twice for similar breaches.
